What does this mean?
The mosque is the house of Allah. Coming for prayer and worship is a greatly rewarded act.
The Prophet taught specific duas for entering and leaving the mosque.
Important points to remember
- Entering the mosque: say 'Allahummiftah li abwaba rahmatik' (O Allah, open for me the gates of Your mercy).
- Leaving the mosque: say 'Allahumma inni as'aluka min fadlik' (O Allah, I ask of Your bounty).
- It is recommended to first pray Tahiyyat al-Masjid (2 rak'ahs to greet the mosque) before sitting.
- Step in with the right foot when entering and the left foot when leaving.
An everyday example
When entering the mosque for prayer, say the du'a for entering, then pray 2 rak'ahs to greet the mosque before sitting down.
